Worsted Yarn

The term worsted as used with worsted yarn weight is not to be confused with the worsted spinning technique, which refers to a way of spinning fiber. Here it refers to a certain thickness or yarn size.

Look for yarn weights number 4 if you want worsted weight.

Suggested Uses

Worsted is commonly used for afghans and most crochet and knitting projects. It is the standard yarn weight and most widely available size. You can find just about any fiber and any color available as worsted.

Recommended knitting needle size: 7-9 (4.5 to 5.5 mm)

Recommended crochet hook size: I-9 to K-10 1/2 (5.5 to 6.5 mm)
